Panic Attack Symptoms
Main Panic Attack Symptoms
- Sudden fear / terror (about something specific like having a heart attack or even something you can’t identify)
- A feeling of impending disaster
- Rapid heart beat
- Difficulty breathing (or yawning)
- Chest pains
- Feeling dizzy / lightheaded
- Tingling / numbness in parts of the body
- Sweating, hot flushes or chills
Other Common Panic Attack Symptoms
- Dry Throat
- Feeling like you are losing control or going nuts
- Uncontrollable trembling or muscle tensing
- Feeling spaced out or detached from reality
- Stomach pain or abdominal cramping
- Headaches or unexplained aches and pains
If you find you are relating to most of the panic attack symptoms in the above checklists, you are likely suffering from a panic attack. If you suffer from panic attacks regularly, you would be diagnosed as having ‘panic disorder’ which is a common anxiety disorder.
